Meet the Pastor

     Rev. Darryl W. Broussard was born November 4, 1961.  He is married to First Lady Deborah Broussard.  They are the proud parents of Robert, LaShanda, Coy and Darrylyn.  Rev. Broussard organized and founded Greater Pure Light Church on October 31, 1986.

     Rev. Broussard accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age.  Pastor Broussard was called and licensed on March 12, 1985 under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Brown Sr., Pastor of Pure Light Missionary Baptist Church.  He has allowed the Holy Spirit to guide him in every way so that he preaches what he lives and lives what he preaches.

     In October of 1986, Darryl W. Broussard became founder and organizing Pastor of Greater Pure Light Church.  There were five members in the organizational meeting who saw God in Pastor Broussard and accepted the challenge of starting a new work for the Lord.  The first worship service was held at 5619 Denmark and in December 1986; he purchased a building at 8802 Kelburn.  Through his teaching and vision the church retired the debt on this building and after outgrowing the facility, God gave Pastor Broussard a vision, which resulted in the purchase of our current facility.  Our membership has increased to over 1100 enthusiastic soldiers in the army of the Lord.  The service is power packed, as God is exalted through anointed preaching and singing.  Our Pastor believes in letting the Lord have His way.  He often reminds his parishioners, “It’s not about us; but it’s all about God.”

    Pastor Broussard teaches the bible in a practical way that relates to real problems that we face everyday.  He’s a pastor that hasn’t forgotten where the Lord brought him from.  He’s highly appreciated for how he interacts with the members and at the same time demands their respect.  To whom much is given, much is required.  Pastor Broussard has sold out to God and continuously gives of himself.  Through his leadership numerous ministries have been established at Greater Pure Light such as; Greeters/Hospitality, Brothers Of Unity, S.W.A.T. (Soul Winning Action Team-Street Ministry), S.A.S.Y. ( Saved And Secure Youth-Ages 13 through 17), Circle Of Lights Children’s Church-provided during morning worship, Audio, Video and Tape Ministry, Award winning Praise Dance and Step Teams, Prison, Sick and Bereaved, Media, Transportation, Care Counselor, Women United Through Christ, Health and Wellness and other ministries that meet the needs of all people.  Pastor Broussard has ignited a fire and excitement within the people that enter the doors of Greater Pure Light.  He has a way of pulling the best out of you and giving you hope for whatever situation that comes your way.  He both teaches and lives Phil. 4: 13.  We can do all things through Christ.  He gives us strength.  Wednesday night Pastor’s Bible Study is soaring, and Kingdom building is taking place at each service.  From Generation X’ers, Baby Boomers to Senior Citizens, Greater Pure Light is a church the whole family can agree on. Greater Pure Light airs weekly on one of Houston’s local broadcasting networks (WB 39).
